Wishing you were here
Mortality. It’s a fact of life we haven’t managed to overcome… yet. The closest we get is either leaving etchings somewhere or adding our genetics to the pool.
In youth we tend not to think about it, at least normal youths don’t. I always knew I was mortal and I was only here for a brief dance– I was heartbroken when I realized that my friends were mortal. I learned that one the hard way. It wasn’t even age or illness– it was someone else’s bad decisions.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve lost more friends and family than I care to and I find myself afraid to fully love and be with my dog because his lifespan is so much shorter– but I love him with all my heart.
So many people, two-legged and four to miss… and I just wish you were here.
Today’s prompt: You get to visit with one person who has passed – who, where, when and why? And of course– what happens
