Be careful what you write for
I worked on a flash piece for a competition – you have 18 hours to write a short story 150-250 words long. The prompt is a line from the previous week’s story. You can only add punctuation and spaces to the line – no other changes.
This time I wrote about zombies. It was late, I had half an hour to write after work and running errands and I fell asleep right after I posted the story.
That night I dreamed of zombies – where the group I was with was hiding out in an apartment building. The odd thing to me were the details in the dream. The furnishings and appliances in the apartment were from the 1940s…
I’m guessing that weird fiction before bed is like having that pickle and anchovy salad right before going to bed.
Either way, I’m not going to chance it – I think I’ll write happy things tonight.
